Sixteen months ago, I spent a special evening along the Flint River photographing and getting to know Drew and Courtney shortly after they announced their engagement. Following our time together, Drew deployed for 6 months. Courtney and her mother then spent the better part of the year refining the details for their St. Simon’s Island destination wedding. Why St. Simons for heavens sake? Courtney and her family live in the beautiful coastal city of Navarre Beach. Courtney spoke to me about her childhood summers spent on St. Simon’s Island with all of her family…cousins, grandparents. Throughout her life, this summer tradition held a special place in her heart. It’s such a blessing to have an entire wedding party and guest list break away from life to celebrate this season of marriage. For the four wonderful days we spent on the island, I witnessed Courtney and Drew wrapped in a deep abiding love by their family and friends. As they set out to begin their new life together, building on the rock of commitment and dedication may their days be as peaceful as the setting sun on this island.
There are three things that amaze me—
no, four things that I don’t understand:
how an eagle glides through the sky,
how a snake slithers on a rock,
how a ship navigates the ocean,
how a man loves a woman.
